What Residency Day Tracking Means

Residency day tracking is the practice of counting the number of days spent in a country, typically to assess tax residency, visa compliance, or eligibility for a residency programme. Many rules apply to a specific assessment period, such as a calendar year or a rolling 12-month window, so it matters not just how many days you spent in the country overall, but how many of those days fall inside the relevant period.

How The Calculator Works

Enter the country and the start and end dates of the period you want to check. Add each stay in that country with its entry and exit date. The calculator totals your overall days in the country, counts how many of those days fall inside the selected period, and shows how many fall outside it. Stays that only partially overlap the selected period are split accordingly.

FAQ

What is residency day tracking?

Residency day tracking means counting how many days you have spent in a country, often within a specific period such as a tax year or a residency assessment period. Many countries use day counts to determine tax residency, visa compliance, or eligibility for residency status.

How does the calculator work?

Enter the country you are tracking and the start and end dates of the period you want to assess. Then add each of your stays in that country with their entry and exit dates. The calculator totals all of your days in the country, works out how many of those days fall inside your selected period, and how many fall outside it.

What happens if a stay only partially falls inside the selected period?

Only the portion of a stay that overlaps with the selected period counts towards Days Inside Selected Period. Any days from that stay that fall before the period start or after the period end are counted as Days Outside Selected Period instead.

Are entry and exit days counted?

Yes. The calculator counts days inclusively, so both the entry date and the exit date are included in the day count for a stay.
